Frequently Asked Questions
What is the James Hardie Pro Football Hall of Fame Invitational (JHI)?
The JHI is a PGA Tour Champions Golf Tournament featuring 78 Notable PGA TOUR Champions, showcasing golf legends such as Bernhard Langer, Jim Furyk and Padraig Harrington. The field of 78 will “tee it up” alongside 26 Pro Football HOF amateurs in a first-ofits-kind celebrity pro-am format.
I haven’t heard of it -- is it new? When is the Tournament?
Following its successful debut in 2025, the JHI returns as a full-field PGA Tour Champions event, replacing the TimberTech Championship with a new tournament format and an updated date: March 2 – March 8, 2026.
Why should I volunteer at James Hardie Pro Football Hall of Fame Invitational?
Our volunteers play an enormous and vital role in ensuring that the Tournament runs professionally, providing the fans, participants and sponsors a fun and unparalleled experience attending a celebrity pro-am tournament. Volunteering at the JHI will give you behind-the-scenes access with front-row excitement at this premiere PGA TOUR Champions event – the new “Home of Legends.” You will be given the opportunity to make memories, new friends, and gain professional experience. The Boca Raton Champions Golf Charities conducts the event and is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization which gives back to the Boca Raton community. This charitable organization can certify all volunteered hours as community service.

Do I have to pay to volunteer? If so, why?
Yes…there is a fee to volunteer. Tournaments under the PGA TOUR Champions are conducted by not-for-profit organizations with the aim of donating net proceeds from the event to local charities in the community. The volunteer registration fee lets the tournament to off-set expenses, allowing our charities to benefit in a greater capacity. However, there will be no registration fee for college and student volunteers.
Is there an age requirement to volunteer?
The JHI requires volunteers to be at least 13 years of age at the time of the Tournament. Walking Scorers must be at least eighteen (18) years old. Some other Committees have age specific requirements.
What is the Volunteer Uniform? Can I buy extra items?
Regular Volunteer: Regular volunteers will receive a JHI volunteer uniform package (details to be announced closer to the tournament). Your volunteer uniform and credentials badge must be worn each day you volunteer, along with khaki or dark bottoms—no denim or baggy cargo shorts/pants. Acceptable bottoms include pants or golf-length shorts for men, and pants, golf-length shorts, skorts, or capris for women. Please wear comfortable closed-toe shoes, preferably suitable for walking. You may also choose to wear JHI-branded headwear (hat or visor).
We will notify you if any additional JHI items will be available for purchase during uniform pick up.
College and Student: College/Junior Volunteers will receive a JHI logo T-shirt. Each shift you work, you will wear this T-shirt, your credentials badge, khaki or dark bottoms – no denim; no baggy cargo shorts/pants (pants, golf length shorts for men; pants, golf-length shorts, skorts, capris for women) and comfortable shoes (closed toe, preferably). You may also elect to wear your JHI Championship headwear (hat or visor). NOTE: Do not wear or use any TimberTech, Allianz, Cognizant Classic, Honda Classic (or similar tournament logo’ed) clothing, hats, outerwear, umbrella.
When and where do I get my uniform?
Pick up will be within 2 weeks before the Tournament begins. Further details on location and times will be provided closer to the event.
What if I cannot pick up my uniform and credentials until later in the week (not at the designated pick-up)? Can I pick them up at my first shift?
We prefer you make every effort to pick up your uniform package during the designated times. You also can ask a friend, family member, or Chairman to pick up your uniform for you. If these arrangements are not possible, you may pick it up on your first shift. Please bring a copy – paper or email on phone – of your volunteer confirmation letter to gain access at the gate. Also, keep in mind that if you are picking up from the on-site location prior to your 1st shift, you should allow extra time to get the package, change your clothes and get to your assignment on time. In addition, you will need to keep your change of clothes in your personal bag. Personal bags must meet the PGA TOUR’s Allowable Standards. There is nowhere to store your belongings on site.
How long can I expect the shifts to be?
Volunteer shifts are defined as six (6) hours but can vary in length depending upon your assigned Committee (anywhere from four (4) to eight (8) hours or a full day). For specific information about your Committee, feel free to email or ask your Committee Chair. Please keep in mind there is no limit to number of shifts you may work. We require an 18-hour minimum of volunteer time (3 x 6-hour shifts or equivalent) to receive an invitation to the Volunteer Appreciation Golf Outing, held over the following summer and fall seasons; however, any availability to volunteer is appreciated.
Do I get a discount on tickets to give to my friends and family? What if I want to watch on my day off?
YES!!! Regular volunteers get 2 FREE electronic grounds tickets for each day – Thursday to Sunday – to give to friends and family. You attend to watch on your day off if you wear your badge, but please do not wear your uniform shirt. It’s also OK to come before, or stay after, your shift and watch while in uniform. The FREE electronic tickets may NOT BE SOLD!! Selling your free tickets will result in your volunteer status, badge and tickets being revoked.
Where do I park for my shift? Is there Handicap Parking available?
Yes, Handicap Parking will be available. Additional information for all parking will be shared as the tournament gets closer.
What training can I expect to receive for my role?
Volunteer training will vary depending upon your assigned Committee. Your Committee Chair will communicate this information.
What do I do with my belongings during my Volunteer Shift? What should I bring with me?
There are no designated areas for volunteers to leave their belongings during shifts. We recommend you use your personal bag (clear bag preferred) and/or keep only what is needed on your person. We suggest you bring sunscreen, and rain gear (weather-dependent). Cell phones are allowed on tournament grounds, but must stay in silent mode.
Are meals provided? Is there a designated place I can go to enjoy my lunch/break or get water?
Yes. There will a selection of grab-and-go snacks and water at the Volunteer Tent, along with meals from local restaurants on select days. Volunteers will also receive vouchers that can be used at specific venues on the course, which include an entrée, snack, and beverage allowance.
Please note that these vouchers are only allowed to be used by Tournament Volunteers, while in uniform, and during their scheduled shift.
I volunteered at the James Hardie Invitational last year; do I need to register again for this year?
